X, what you are saying here is all too true. And it is not just young families that will see their savings wiped out in the next bear market. I am appalled at some of the "investing" being done by people who are older and whose risk profile should be much lower with money that they are going to need.

Item #3. I wonder about that too. Big big difference in pay and no unions (for the most part). Poor benefits if any.

But much of that is the consumers fault. We want cheap cheap cheap we get offshore offshore offshore.
