Anybody know something about this after close filing?: marketwatch.newsalert.com *************************** Man, what a difference between Michael Dell and TJ. Cheer Leading is obviously required - everybody knows that. What Dell and AOL understand but TJ has missed the boat on is that you have to have a plan to deliver some kind of concrete item every month or so. Not just hype but product to sell. For example, AOL announces the "free PC" deal. It may be fairly meaningless, but it gets attention, demands press coverage, keeps the blood flowing, shows leadership*, moves the business and the stock forward. AOL had to be planning that for months. I am sure they have another one ready to bring out in a few weeks when the stocks start to cool off. the timing of these is no accident. The time people want to invest in stocks most is just before earnings. Let's take a look at some events last week: CMGI = buys AV RNWK = makes big MSFT deal AOL = free computer deal (not much but they are trying) ATHM = Zero announcements TJ is junior league player without a clue as to how to run a business. He doesn't even realize that when he runs his mouth off in public and says CEOs admit...that they buy whole companies without knowing as much as they should.* everybody knows he is free associating about himself. Armstrong, Case and Dell would never in a million years say something like that. I wish we could get somebody better. It is a tragedy because he has a solid business with lots to work with.
