Actually, I did buy the Volvo because of price. Well, to get technical, I leased it two years ago partially because of price.

My wife wanted a new car, and her accountant said she should lease it. She owns her own business, and this made it simpler come tax time. So we went looking at those cheap Japanese cars that we found weren't quite so cheap as they were the last time she looked. Then we went to the Ford dealer, and she liked the Contour (the smallest Ford I could get into without being in traction afterwards). Then we went to see the Volkswagen Passat, just to be thorough, and the Volkswagen dealer also sold Volvo's. The Volvo S70 was just being introduced, and they had a "get some of them on the road quick" lease price (my idea on GlobalStar), which was actually lower than the lease price on any of the other cars we looked at, even though the sticker price was highest by lots. Sticker about $8,000 more than the Contour, far more comfortable, better handling, and safer, with a lease price $10.00 a month lower. Made it hard to pass up.

Of course, if there had been as little difference between these cars as I understand there is between different brands of gasoline (petrol) (I understand that BP gas sold here is actually refined by Sunoco, as are several other brands) I might have insisted on the red one.

And now that Ford owns Volvo, I don't know what will happen.

Have a nice weekend. Oh, and my daughter really liked the Tarzan movie. I kept wondering why every moviemaker keeps insisting on ignoring the book.

Maurice - Well, now I know why I go by price! It's too darn complicated to do anything else.
