Hi melinda, you have to understand that I don't speak or understand cat language...I just happen to know a cat who understands spoken English and can telepathically communicate in English (or more properly, in human). He doesn't even live at my house. That being said, you have to understand that cats don't understand where you get their food. The concept of cans and boxes or bags is beyond them. They don't have words for food-containers in their language (which is a good thing. If they did, each word would probably take up 20 pages in their dictionary). Cats like to play with their food, take it apart, rearrange the pieces. show it off, etc. He probably thinks you are doing that with his food, which according to Peaches is very rude among cats, in fact it is the same thing as if I were to take food off your plate, throw it on the floor, step in it, then pick it up and put it back on your plate and expect you to eat it. Fortunately most cats are so mystified when it comes to what we humans do and why, they just don't realize where you get their food. He might be telling you he is really hungry, or that he wants you to stop playing with his food, or something like that. You might try preparing it where he can't see what you are doing, also give him food more often, and increase the amount just a bit. The sociology of cat culture is very interesting (sociology is what my other degree is in). But I'm not really an expert. I have not been owned by a cat for about 20 years. PCM
