I didn't know that serving your country in the National Guard was dishonorable. Now going to England, smoking dope and protesting the US involvement in Vietnam while the troops were there after deceiving your draft board is what I call dishonorable. JLA

Any male of the proper age can join the National Guard and is subject to call for active duty at any time with very little notice. If he were a draft dodger, he would have run to Canada as so many did.

Case in point..During WWII the 36th infantry division, National Guardsmen from Texas and Oklahoma, were called to active duty and were among the first to go ashore at Anzio and Salerno. One full company from Caldwell, Texas was included and by the time U.S. troops were halfway up the boot, only three of the original members were still alive. Figure it out, four platoons of four squads each with nine men in each squad plus platoon sgts, lts, and staff officers and men. Do the math and you will see that Guardsmen do their duty. TD
