Gore served in Vietnam during the war era, but I'm not sure where. Actually, I have more money now than I ever dreamed I would have as a boy; I am very fortunate. I have no jealousy of those who may be wealthier than I. I do have an intense dislike of those who talk the talk, but don't walk the walk.

President George Bush is the son of the late Sen. Prescott Bush. He was a distinguished army pilot, whose plane was shot down during World War Two. That is honorable service, and I have a very deep respect for the man. He can look someone like Bob Dole in the eye. John F. Kennedy was also a true hero, although the son of one of the richest men in America; as you'll recall he showed great valor in saving lives after the sinking of the P.T. 109. His brother, Joe Kennedy Jr., was killed in the Pacific.

Sorry, but I judge a man by the content of his character, not the size of his wallet. I've been just as hard on this issue on Bill Clinton, although his family was hard-scrabble poor. I'm just trying to be consistent in my views--I don't excuse in Republicans what I don't excuse in Democrats.
