Gottfried -

The restore CD is probably designed to put the computer back in exactly the state it was in when it shipped from the factory. The only part that would be brand specific would be the driver files and registry settings that pertain to the hardware, such as video cards, etc., that they installed originally.

It's possible that there is some way to do a partial re-install of the programs from that CD. It's worth a shot, anyway.
