I've grown to use "misandery" as a direct reverse of "misogyny". "Misanderist" as the nown. X uses a slightly different construction, one taht'll get her in trouble as soon as the androids get politically organized.

I also plead guilty to being a sexist. But then, I'm over 50, so what do you expect?

Jim

I agree that you are a sexist. I mean, duh!

I also believe you to be a misogynist. You, no doubt, consider yourself to be a connoisseur of women, and cannot comprehend what I am saying. And I am not willing to go back and exhume what you've said to support my point. The sad thing is that you think the way you talk to women is amusing and charming.

I'll make a deal with you. Leave me alone in the future, and I let you have the last word in this exchange.

Christopher, there really does not appear to be a synonym for "man-hater," at least not one derived from the Greek, on the order of "misogynist." Maybe it never occurred to the Greeks, or to their successors, that any woman would ever have reason to hate men. <g>

But saying you are a "sexist," not a "misogynist," doesn't quite get you off the hook. The best short definition of "sexism" that I have seen is "behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex." Not good.

You say that "virtually everyone on this thread" is a "sexist." I don't agree. I, for one, am not. The only thing I have ever said on this thread that was remotely "sexist" was my response to your response to Cobalt's "How many feminists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?" post. And even then, I was only quoting my handywoman. <g>

I think most of the "women (or men) are ....[fill in the blanks]" banter that goes on on this thread is just that -- banter. Someone like Jim Barrett, for example, is obviously just horsing around.

But I have sometimes wondered about you. Some of your comments have made me a little uneasy, even when they have had all kinds of <gggg>'s after them. And I have asked myself: "Does he really mean that stuff?"

Now that you openly admit to being a sexist, am I to conclude that you really do mean "that stuff"? :-)

Joan

"How many feminists does it take to change a light bulb."

None. They hire a man to do it so the job gets done right.
