If you can't enter 1972 (most computers only allow > 1980, set you VCR or computer to 1983. This will work until 28Feb2000. On March first, set it to 1989.

This will also work for phone systems etc where you need the correct day of the week.

Bearcub -

i'll try that 1972 thing. however, it doesn't work on any of my 7 computers (as far back as any of them will allow me to set them is 1980.)

Hold it!!!

That trick of subtracting 28 (or a multiple of 28) from the date is not about setting the clock in a PC back to 1972. It's about setting the DATA back 28 years.

If you're running applications on a PC that have existing data files, I seriously doubt you're going to have the sort of software tools that can dip into the application & do this little dance.

The 28 year set back is commonly called encapsulation.

One should not consider the encapsulation route until you have actually analysised the data in your files.

i.e. - "Listen kids, don't do this trick at home!"
