As I recall, a stock must trade above the current highest strike price before a new strike will be listed.

I'm NOT certain of the current criteria, but is used to be it had to
trade above the current strike for two days before a new series would be opened. There also has to be a certain amount of time left.

If you look at some recent big movers, you'll notice the only July options available are deep in the money. This is because the July options expire a week from Friday, so they don't bother listing new
strikes.

Again, I'm a little out of my realm of knowledge here. If anyone else can add some facts or correct any mis-statements, I'm willing to
learn too!
