philv : True, CBs are the biggest gold owners and operators.

Therefore they have the most to make should POG go up and also the most to lose when it goes down. That's why I don't go for the conspiracy and manipulation story that they are manipulating the price downwards. If gold was so cheap, as many allege it is, then it would be the biggest bargain in the world and many very rich individuals and corporations would be diving in to buy. Doesn't seem to be happening.

Truth is, compared to currencies for example, gold is not particularly cheap. Therefore it's not such a big bargain. One day when the US dollar weakens against something --- anything --- then the currencies will get stronger and POG will probably turn upwards. Until that happens gold remains a lousy investment.

If it satisfies you, as it does others, to believe that the price is being manipulated then so be it. But don't forget the object of the exercise is not self-righteousness or moral superiority but to make some money and right now, to make any by buying gold, is not particularly easy. The trend is still downwards --- at least in my eyes.
