Teflon,

I posted my thoughts on Ben Rose's downgrade of Siebel in that folder. Check it out for the few details I covered.

Relative to the valuation, I don't have a huge problem with his downgrade. The real problem I have is that he's likely to downgrade it one day and upgrade it six months later. That's just not my investment style, to waffle back and forth.

I thought some of his reasons were pretty weak, but in light of the valuation they might be a little stronger.

Siebel did a lot better in the market today than I thought it would. Yesterday we saw NEON report slower sales. Anytime an EAI maker says business is slow gives us reason to wonder if the front office business is also a little slow. We also saw Vantive report another terrible quarter, this one with no increase in revenue, giving us the feeling that indeed business might be slow. And then Ben Rose downgraded Siebel. In light of all that in one day, I'll take the loss today with a smile.

Your thoughts?
