It's not that the corporations are lazy. Remember the good old days when you'd here a jingle on the T.V. that actually was written for a product? Doesn't happen much because jingle-writing is a lost art and practically dead. Of course this is because too many stupid jingles got mixed in with the good ones. Makes sense that some Dilbert Corporate Manager would just say, "hey let's use a song instead" - paying royalties is far easier than paying one person to come up with a ditty, now isn't it.
