Dave- Thanks for the post. You listed the authors, but nothing else. When I see an article so slanted (albeit probably true), I also like to know the publisher. One author, Joseph Laszlo, is familiar to me. Is he affiliated with ETI (Economics and Technology Inc.)? If so, I know that organization HATES ANY PERCEIVED MONOPOLY. Their sole purpose is to foster (in any way possible) competition, especially in the telecommunication's area. The more competition, the merrier. They encouraged the break up of Ma Bell, and I'm sure are now on the "open access" bandwagon. They are sure quick to criticize Excite@Home for their poor service, while in the same breath screaming for open access. Will the addition of multiple ISPs in this early stage of roll out improve service? I think not.

Don't get me wrong, like ETI, I would like to see lower prices for subscribers. I can see it coming now. It seems that TCI@Home has pretty much waved their installation costs. Allowing new subscribers to keep AOL "free" for the remainder of '99 is also a competitive step that will benefit customers. As DSL spreads and drops prices, so will @Home. ETI will get their wish. Competition will spread, and prices will drop.

I am sorry about your outage problem. Do like my brother-in-law does. Deduct each day it happens from your monthly bill. TCI has never challenged him on it. They accept whatever he sends them. Now if you're a day trader, I guess that is a different problem. You have a need to have uninterrupted service.
