Janice,

If these allegations against these two Canadian brokers are true, then they are in a heap o'trouble. Quoting from Brent Mudry's article that I referenced the other day: exchange2000.com

On June 29, two P.I. brokers, Michael Patterson and Dirk Rachfall, were arrested by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in Seattle for their roles in the Houge affair. After spending a week in jail, the Vancouver brokers appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington on Tuesday, wearing handcuffs and blue prison uniforms. The experience behind bars was likely sobering. "I visited a client a few months ago in that same jail; by his third day he already had to pay protection money to be safe," a defence lawyer told Stockwatch, referring to an unrelated case.

That sounds to me like these guys may be ready and willing to bargain with the authorities? Maybe talking? Maybe... Who really knows? Any thoughts?

Did you notice the difference in bail between Patterson and Rachfall? If they're both alleged to have committed the same crimes, why do you suppose that Mr. Patterson's bail was $350K and Mr. Rachfall's was only $300K? Does that imply something or am I just fooling myself? Is Mr. Patterson really worth $50K more than Mr. Rachfall? I also noted that their employer (Pacific International) put up $100K of the bail monies. Peculiar, given that the brokerage stands to lose $300K (or has already lost $300K) if the allegations are true...

The only reference I find posted about them on this thread is the testimony from Mr. Quiel, regarding a short sale of AZNT stock a year or two ago for an unnamed client. And even that reference was only about Mr. Patterson. Mr. Rachfall got no mention at all. So am I to infer that because Mr. Rachfall was never mentioned, that he's never been involved with Mr. Quiel?

Because the only mention of Mr. Patterson on this thread was that same testimony and Mr. Quiel allegedly wasn't representing AZNT at that time, does that mean that Mr. Patterson and Mr. Rachfall really don't have any direct connection to AZNT? Have I summarized the postings correctly here? Have I missed anything?

I know that you sometimes also post on Raging Bull. Have any of the posters over there mentioned either Mr. Patterson or Mr. Rachfall? I had heard that someone had posted that some time ago, Mr. Patterson had made a figurative "threat" against Mr. Michael Sylver, but I haven't seen that post referenced over here yet. If that's true (the "threat"), then why would Mr. Patterson "threaten" Mr. Sylver (whom he theoretically never met or knew)? And if Mr. Patterson did "badmouth" Mr. Sylver, was Mr. Rachfall also involved? Is there any relationship between Messers Patterson & Rachfall and any other business entity here, such as any of the AZNT subsidiaries or Titan Investments or Totally Concepts or whatever? Have I missed anything here?

Thanks in advance for any of my questions that you might be able to answer. Just curious, and fascinated by this soap opera-like "melodrama".
