Yesterday I e-mailed AFS as follows:

" I am a shareholder in AFS and have been following progress closely via news
announcements and Silicon Investor. Thank you for your response to my question
in Oct. '98.

Lately, we have been getting some very encouraging news, and I would think the
future is bright. The latest announcement, for a private placement of 70,000
shares at $1.17 has me baffled:

1. Why is this one such a small private placement, when the three previous ones
I heard about were for 221,000, 254,166 and 370,154 shares respectively?

2. Why is the 70,000 "discount" so large - about $0.30 below the recent
trading? Is it becoming more difficult to obtain financing?

3. When can we expect that AFS will no longer require private placements.

A big AFS fan........John."

I will publish the reply. If they must announce these private placements, aren't we entitled to know the answers to such questions?

John.

Sounds like ATF should be trying to get in with Volkswagen and Peugeot Citroen.

That' very interesting, isn't it? You'd think the environmentalists would be on them like the ugly on an ape 'cause diesel's so dirty by comparison. Would maybe help us.
