A new twist on an old idea, AFS has created a means by which diesel engines can efficiently burn natural gas. Conversion systems have been developed for Hino, a subsidiary of Toyota, and Daewoo of Korea, two of the larger heavy engine builders in the world. The company is also supplying conversion kits for gasoline burning vehicles to a company in Mexico. Over 300,000 kits are expected to be shipped in the next three to five years. In a joint venture with Matros Technologies of St.Louis Mo. the company has developed and tested a new type of catalytic converter using 'reverse flow technology' which has patent pending status in the U.S. This will enable the company's systems to meet the Euro III standard with the total hydro carbon reduction mandate. I haven't taken a position yet, but will definitely keep an eye on this one. Alternative Fuel Systems trades on the Vancouver exchange with a range of .30 to .62 under the symbol ATF.
