Hello Uncle,

"...Do you have any thoughts on fertile sectors you could share with us now?..."

It is precisely because I was lacking good ideas that I brought up the suggestion. You know how the saying goes, "Necessity is the mother of invention."

It does seem though that the communications sector has much potential for tornados. A quick analysis of sector strengths gives the Communications sector of the S&P500 the strongest vote, and it is obvious that the market in the meantime has an insatiable demand for communications-related stocks. The rising communications tide has lifted a fair number of related boats.

I am currently interested in the following potential development: high-speed (as in comparable to DSL or cable speeds), wireless internet access and communications (e-mail and net surfing, etc.); it looks like the market has made a straight move into this direction. Apparently, Metrocom (MCOM) investors have realized the important role their company plays in the communications evolution, and have bid up wildly the company's shares.

However, the eventual commodity-like characteristics of such an offering would prevent a true Gorilla from emerging. High switching costs is a Gorilla-game criterion that won't exist, and therefore would only leave room for potential Kings and such.

So do I have any other ideas for fertile ground? Unfortunately, nothing that adds up too much to any sizable tornados. I was hoping some of the other bright contributors had better ideas up their cyber sleeves.
