Robert- I am not sure about the programing battles with cable TV. I just can't recall. Maybe others can.

I have been on TCI@Home's waiting list forever. My wife said there was an ad in the paper today announcing they were ready to go in almost ALL areas of the Quad Cities. Even little dinky towns close by. NO installation fee! I called a TCI@Home Rep. today, and he confirmed this. He asked many questions about my Dell setup at home. They were having a few data base problems, so the guy said to call back in the P.M. to complete the order. I took the little shaver swimming, so I didn't reach the Rep. prior to the end of his shift. I will call tomorrow.

One thing is bugging me though. Wouldn't you think THEY would have called me BEFORE I called them. Wasn't I on a waiting list to be phoned as soon as my area was ready for installation? Would they ever have called me? Maybe they are truly swamped. There is one other question I have. IF they have this incredible waiting list, WHY offer free installation? Why are they not charging people the installation fee? Has this fee been an obstacle? Is this a marketing ploy to entice subscribers? First you charge a fee...then you cut or eliminate the fee for a limited time. I was going to negotiate the fee anyway. The free installation is a nice incentive to boost subscriber numbers by next earning's report. I also know TCI@Home is under the gun to do roll-out as quickly as possible.

After reading on the TCI@Home web site that I could keep my AOL free for the rest of the year, I am not sure that I will do it. There are very few AOL features that I even care about. I think I will drop the additional phone line and AOL as well. To AOL's credit, I have not had to call for any assistance in the 1 1/2 years I have had an account with them. No tech support, billing problems, etc. In fact, I have never even spoken with them. I think that is amazing, and I applaud AOL for rising above their earlier problems. I trust ATHM will do the same.
