Excellent point about (some) SI posters being considered "confidential information". After all, what separates SI from the other chat boards has much to do with the quality of their product, i.e. the integrity of their "messengers". They have a perfect right, IMO, to weed out and eliminate spammers and a perfect right to protect the identity of community members who might be forced to quit posting -- and thus cease adding value to their site -- if they are "exposed". Sure, it's a judgment call on SI's part on who to hand over and who not to, but, hey, that's business, and SI is a business. However, I do very much think SI should give the subpoenad member a chance to make a case why what they did was reasonable and just and thus should be "protected". That's only fair, IMO.
