Unclewest,

Re:" the reason we will all pay more for rambus rdram-d??

it is the speed, stupid!"

Well I agree if Rambus Dram ends in faster higher performance PCs folks will buy it.

However most folks are not expecting ANY performance increase with the first high volume application of Rambus DRAM - the camino chipset plus PIII.

Now there is clearly a disconnect here.

If the performance is there folks will buy it.

If it isn't there....folks will ignore it.

I can tell you that I have heard that the performance simply isn't there with the camino + PIII combo.

We will find out soon enough!!!

Good luck with your investment.

Regards,

Kash

uncle, high end processors are faster and don't sell nearly as well as low end processors. rdram will be incredibly expensive until it is mass produced. people won't buy it en masse, imho.

name one pc mfr that has agreed to invest their own serious dollars in rdram? why did intel bribe samsung and mu? i thought this was a no brainer? everyone is going to want it, right? why the billion dollar bribes? oops, i mean, "investments." ;-)
