>>dell has done excellent selling to the high end. however, their growth is slowing

michael dell announced yesterday that he expects dell sales to triple. dell is rocking
today on upgrades due to increased sales.<<

there is nothing inconsistent w/ what i said and what mike dell said.

slower growth can still triple.

rdram is incredibly hyped. just like the dram recovery in 1997. and 1998. 1999. now 2000. everybody seems to ignore the reality of economics and jump on the hype bandwagon. a sign of the times, i guess.

the dram players have to get a foot into rdram as insurance. i'd bet that is all most of those companies have done.

sony is a different story. they are into gaming and will use rdram for their playstation. you know, the product that mints money for them. makes sense.

joe six pack, imho, will not shell out a couple hundred extra bucks (30%+ for a lot of pcs today) for slightly better performance a small % of the time. maybe i'm wrong.
