“In addition, as far as billers go, they want to cross-sell other products with inserts in their paper bills or E-Bills. With E-Bills, there is even the chance a customer will visit their site more than once a month to check on the status of their account; can even start thinking about more directed cross-selling when the process is electronic; cannot do this with paper bills.”

My guess is that in the next 30–60 days CKFR will announce pilot program with AT&T using next generation software “magnet technology” for interactive bills. We know from press releases and Nantucket conference (E-Bill 3.0) that it is in the works. This software will allow the biller to deliver interactive bills and do proactive marketing. Once this hits the market it will further leapfrog CKFR technology over the wannabe's.

Erik T, re:"(didn't mean to interrupt)..."

Hi Erik,

"It's Baga vs Stept, Stept throws a payment left, Baga ducks and returns with a blow to the presentment gut. Ugh! Baga makes a tag to the outside and into the ring comes T with a presentment cross-sell 1-2 combination."

Sorry my fantasies of sports announcing got the best of me.

I agree that one distribution point is the goal... hopefully that will be CheckFree. I also think that the most effeceint method is both electronic payment and presentment. Payment is easier to setup than presentment, and the cost benefit for presentment is a greater hurdle than for payment, in fact it may be significant if something low-tech like PMB can enter the market.

I am not sure that PMB would miss out on advertising and sales generation as they still have a captive customer base via e-mail to which they can atttach advertisements. The cross selling is a good point... I wonder if it would flow through the CheckFree system. The credit card companies have a valuable customer database to which they can target products.... hopefully it would come out on the other end of a pure electronic transaction.

Just my opinion (and T is on the floor as Stept throws his flow-through jab! the crowd goes wild... (sorry, couldn't help myself!!!)).

Jon :)
