Re: "Y2K. Anyone planning to take money off the table for a while before end of the year?"

I'm considering it seriously. There is the reality and the perception that are points to consider. You might find it interesting to look through senate.gov as one estimate of the real impact to the Y2K problem. [You'll need Acrobat Reader]

I think it would be difficult to leave the above site without "expecting" there would be quite a few Y2K "incidents", whether they would be of great significance would be arguable; most likely the significant impacts would be internationally. Of course that could affect US markets as well. I would also expect the media to report to us on a daily basis of the "crisis"...I heard Dan Rather talk about El Nino on a daily basis for six months; I don't see him skipping the Y2K opportunity. The good news though [as I recollect] is that early surveys showed people generally responding to Y2K questions as "what's a Y2K?"; mid-term surveys with respondents..."It'll be the end of the world"; and more recent surveys..."It'll be no big deal".

Best Regards,
Jim
