I am for a constitutional amendment regarding impeachment cases. It taints the whole process for any President of one party to be tried by a Senate dominated by another. I favor impeachment trials to be conducted by the Senate, with the entire Supreme Court sitting as jurors, and a unanimous vote of the Justices required for removal. This will remove politics from the process, except for the personal political leanings of the Justices, something that's unavoidable but better than what we have now. At the time the Constitution was written, political parties did not resemble what we have today; this justifies revisiting the impeachment process by Constitutional amendment.

jallen,

"The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment, shall be by Jury; and such Trial shall be held in the State where the said Crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any State, the Trial shall be at such Place or Places as the Congress may by Law have directed."

A judge can have a finding of fact. Trials of all crimes.....shall be by Jury. Period. There are no exceptions other than impeachment. If you would look again at the posts, I was responding to the phrase "proven criminal". Proven criminal is by jury, not a finding of fact by a judge..By the way, if you have pointer to the Judges' finding, I would greatly appreciate it; I would find it interesting reading.

Thanks,
Jim
