I'm not sure what to suggest! I realize that we have to label groups in order to discuss them on an intellectual basis, but it still disturbs me a little. I can hardly wait until we are all so incredibly mixed up, racially speaking, that referring to these groups become only an historical way of looking at people.

If you are trying to divide up Asian racial groups, though, perhaps Steven would be a good source of current descriptions. I have heard things like East Asian, South Asian, etc., but I don't know if this is really correct.

I agree with Christine that the word du jour is "Asian." Indians from India are extremely good at computer programming.

'East Asians' is frequently used here, if the context requires specificity.
