Haven't you read "Huckleberry Finn," Rich? If you have, you will remember that Jim is referred to as "nigger." That word was commonly used in the 19th century, more so than "darky." In the 20th, both words came to be considered pejorative, and were replaced, successively, by "Negro," "black," and "Afro-American."

I sure hope you have at least one of the last three words in your vocabulary; otherwise you may get yourself into some trouble. <g>
