"I agree that simply posting the Ten Commandments might unfairly lead to a claim that a Hindu is un- American."

Congratulations. This is essentially the point that I beat myself up trying to make to you and Johannes about church/state separation. It's just a shame that you couldn't acknowledge it then...

This issue isn't just about customs and cultural heritage. It's also about labels -- and about inclusion or exclusion based on those labels.

Someone's feelings will be hurt whether you post the Ten or not. Indeed, many feelings are hurt currently and yet the Ten are nowhere to be found in the schools. (Oh but who cares about “those folk?” Well “those folk” care about themselves because they know if they do not care, folks who babble mindlessly about “inclusion” surely will not.)

Currently Atheism reigns in the public school system because for all intents and purposes, God has been forced out of it. Of course this means ostracism from public life for any person who is seriously defined by religion. What such a person must do currently to negotiate the public school system is live a lie, never publicly praying for assistance or, when given the opportunity, publicly honouring his God for some achievement. What we currently live under is the governmentally sanctioned religion of Atheism.

Again, I say the best solution for this problem (by no means the perfect solution) is not to force everyone into an atheistic lie and then call this trash “inclusion”, but to de-federalise education. Allow people real freedom, the freedom to associate as they see fit. Allow their communities to determine via the traditional democratic process their own religious identities and how they will manifest themselves within their respective education systems, this, at their own expense. If a person finds he cannot tolerate the majority identity of his community, then he should have freedom to move wherever he pleases. He should certainly not have power to destroy the community.
