I think he should be careful on the tax issue. Remember the "read my lips" fiasco? I don't see how we're going to have big tax cuts and at the same time rescue our military from its present deplorable condition. If that can be done, and I can pay less taxes, than I say bring on the less taxes. I also don't like Federal Tort Reform. While as a lawyer I've seen plenty of frivolous lawsuits, I think our system is pretty good at weeding those out (or getting ridiculous jury verdicts overturned on appeal). New York's tort reform, especially in the medical malpractice area, has led to some terrible injustices (a doctor can only be liable if he "treats " you here; thus, if he entirely misses the fact that you have cancer, and another doctor doesn't catch the error until several years later when you are terminal, the original doctor escapes liability since he never treated you for cancer--this is just one example). I think it's been shown very convincingly that consumer rights do not have to be invaded to get our economy humming. Again, my disclaimer is that I'm a lawyer, but some of the things I've seen that could never affect my practice either way are just plain wrong, and are the bad results of anti-tort lobbying.

George Bush, does he have a military background? How does he stack up against Jon McCain?
