Here is what their website [ objectivecom.com ] says:

The ATM Gateway2 is a high-speed networking interface that
allows VidPhone Station users to connect to other VidPhone
Switches using an OC-3 (155Mbps optical) or DS-3 (45 Mbps
coax) ATM PVC (Permanent Virtual Circuit) connection. The
ATM Gateway2 overcomes the bandwidth limitation of N-ISDN
by providing approximately 25 times better image quality,
dramatically improving the experience of wide area
videoconferencing. Wide area ATM calls are possible right
from the desktop, classroom, or conference room, anywhere
there is a VidPhone Station. With the ATM Gateway2,
VidPhone users can call other VidPhone users and conduct
point-to-point or multipoint videoconferences, view
broadcasts, or access stored video from VCRs, DVD players,
and other video devices connected to the VidPhone Switch.
