Once. And only once in history

Praise God!!! Once was all it took.

Yes it does take faith. And choice. If you choose not to accept it does it make you feel bigger to make light of it?

Without faith, IMO, we would be on an even intelligence level with an amoeba.
"8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."
1 John 3
"The mother knows that the child is hers; The father has faith that the child is his." It becomes necessary , if we are human, to have faith.

"Would it be rude to point out that con men ask for faith also? Honest men don't need to. They can convince you by their record and their deeds."

I agree with these words with this single exception: "con men ask for blind faith. Honest men don't need to. They can convince you by their record and their deeds."

This statement is beautifully exemplified in the life of Jesus and the Apostles and disciples.

Neither Jesus nor the Apostles expect you to have blind faith.
This is why we were given an accurate historical record of the life, Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. God does not expect us to have
blind faith, but faith base upon rational historical facts. This is why God gave us a raliable set of historical documents to validate our faith.
These historical facts themselves can never bring you to a spiritual knowledge of Jesus, but they can help eliminate irrational mental barriers that block your ears from hearing the internal voice of the Holy Spirit. If the Gospels were irrational, then your mind would have a tendency to block out the internal reality. But I hope to show that they are both rational and reliable.

You also said: "Honest men don't need to (ask for blind faith). They can convince you by their record and their deeds."

The Gospels, Jesus and the Apostles are perfect examples of this principle. It is their combined deeds and their preserved and authentic records in the New Testament coupled with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that ultimately converted the pagan world. The Apostles were honest men who preferred death to bad records and deeds. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they convinced the world by their records and deeds.

The New Testament states the principle this way: "faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God".
