I gave you a direct URL! Please supply this unknowing techie with one from your far better example! But I did: speed.snap.com. I'm not saying it's a great portal (and I'm not saying that such a thing exists anywhere since I never use the things myself), but it at least does a far better job than the Excite example of putting rich media in the forefront. Another advantage is that it does so throughout most of its sections and not just in a gimmicky front door to the site.
