NSOL teams with HP
Network Solutions Teams With HP to Promote Complete Internet Solutions for Small Business HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1999--Network Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSOL - news) today announced a strategic agreement with Hewlett-Packard Company, stemming from their common interest in offering complete Internet solutions for small businesses.
As part of the agreement, both companies will provide reciprocal links to each other's Internet services. HP will include Network Solutions on its HP Covision Internet solutions program Web site, while Network Solutions will promote Covision in its similarly organized dot com toolkit(TM) at networksolutions.com. HP's Covision program integrates leading Internet-based partners to empower small businesses with the tools necessary to succeed online. Likewise, the dot com toolkit is a small business resource center that provides access to tools and services to set up a Web site and conduct business online.
''Network Solutions and HP understand the power of today's Internet technologies, and are living it, day in, day out.'' said Doug Wolford, Network Solutions' senior vice president, marketing and sales. ''Through our agreement, we are working with Hewlett-Packard to provide our customers with an enhanced range of leading edge Internet solutions.''
Specifically, HP will place Network Solutions in its Covision Web site, located at hpcovision.com, as a reference for a primary step in establishing an online business. In turn, Network Solutions will provide a hyperlink to the HP Covision Web site in its dot com toolkit, available at networksolutions.com. The dot com toolkit is designed to empower the growing number of small businesses who realize the necessity of establishing a strong online identity.
As small businesses strive to increase their visibility and to reach more customers, creating an online presence is becoming a key factor. According to the Cyber Dialogue's 1999 U.S. Small Business Internet Survey, three million small businesses are online as of the end of the first quarter 1999, representing a 17 percent annual growth rate. The survey also found that small businesses that already are online have stepped up their reliance on the Internet, indicating a strong interest in utilizing the power of the Internet to enhance their businesses.
''We are excited to work with Network Solutions to promote Internet solutions and services to small businesses,'' said Greg Mihran, head of Internet solution development for HP's Business PC Organization. ''The links between our Web sites will help customers quickly and easily find the tools that will help them achieve their Internet goals.''
