I am REALLY wondering what kind of women you have associated with in the past, TC. Although I had a boyfriend who was furious when I wasn't home to bail him out of jail once- he'd gotten drunk at a racetrack and insulted Security. I had never dated someone who'd gone to jail. And he wanted sympathy because they'd dragged him and his knees were all cut up. And he wanted me to feel guilty because he'd gotten drunk when I wouldn't go out with him that weekend. It was my fault! I never saw him again. I am assuming you made similar short work of the "regular". (BTW- his name was Thomas)
