Good point, Roger. I too own quite a number of hi-techs. I invested in the "baby-Berk" IPO for several reasons.

Diversification. Mr. Buffet is a renown value investor. I spend most of my time focusing on growth stocks. I figured by investing in BRK.B I would in effect be diversifying into other sectors of the market where value plays exist.

Professional money management. Not only did I buy into diversification when I bought BRK.B, but I also bought into a managed portfolio of stocks, & a well-managed one at that.

Sure, I'm disappointed that the stock has gone no where in 18 months, but I make the investment decision every day that Warren & his team will ultimately uncover hidden value in some underpriced company that I would never even spend a minute on.

Now, 18 months is not a long time, so I cannot say the same thing of an investment that has done nada for me over several years. I would expect that over time to at least earn what I earn on my fixed income portfolio. As far as my BRK.B investment that ROI test is couple years away.

Each investor must set his own targets for each of his investments & act accordingly. So given the lackluster performance of the stock in recent months, it is not surprising find this discussion taking place. I guess it is cathartic for those who have not really thought through their investments to the extent they should.
