...Incremental drivers to equipment market are increasingly cell phones, networking, telecom, and consumer oriented products.

Semiconductor market expected to grow 18% between 1998-2003, PCs - 9%, Communications - 22%, Consumer - 22%, and Servers/Workstations - 24%.

Drivers in 2000 include: new DRAM capital expenditures, continued foundry spending, and 300mm ramp. Our doubts center on DRAM capital expenditures and 300mm ramp assumptions.

Even amongst the top 5 equipment companies in the world, Applied has
increased its market share from 43% in 1997 to 47% in 1998 to 52% in 1H99. Applied's share of the US equipment bookings has increased from 31% in May 1998 (trailing 3 months) to 45% in May 1999.
