Ray, I had a little trouble interpreting Eric's question too, since it followed a discussion on wireless CDMA, I believe, but he was asking about the multiple ISP problem on cable, so I inferred that he was referring to the last mile of HFCs. Eric, is that assumption on my part correct?

In any event, yes you are absolutely correct re the use of tunneling protocols and filters on the backbone a la VPNs, but I don't think that E was talking about upstream from the head end, rather, his concern centered on the local black cable segment. Eric, what say?
