Hi Bernie, It's also easier to reconstruct what one has done if all the tinkering is kept as simple as possible. One of the other nice features of Newport is that it documents any time we fiddle with Portfolio Control, add or remove Cash or Stock, etc.

Yes, I've done exactly what you have proposed. In 1995, after a few years of waiting for the market to "use up" some of my cash reserve in my IRA account with TWCUX (it was up to about 50% at that time), I just plain SHIFTED to a higher Equity/Cash ratio. Couldn't have picked a much better time as the market turned strongly upward. I switched the weighting to what the IW was recommending at the time - about 30%.

Inside Newport, I did just what you said. I REDUCED the CASH and ADDED to the STOCK an equal value. AIM and Newport were happy with the change and I've been delighted with using the Idiot Wave's recommendations as the upper limit of the Cash Reserve ever since.
