The 2 meg file showed .56 megabits as the throughput.

That server is also located in canada, which means it has to do quite a few hops for me to get there. The only true measurement of my line quality would have to be done with a direct file transfer from Pacbell's internal servers.

FYI, my @Home connection in suburban Denver shows 0.2964061 Mbps using the 5 Mb test. It's 5:45 pm here, so probably somewhere between peak and valley for congestion. I've seen downloads as fast as ~1.6 Mbps (but this is the first time I've run this test).
