Eddie, I don't know why you are bitter about analysts. Sell-side analysts try to push stocks -- but they also give us a good indication of where the companies they follow are heading. They interview management and report back to us. Some of them even ask difficult questions -- the answers to which may be valuable for the average or even well-informed investor!

I am as much a critic of the "price target" mentality as the next person, but what has that got to do with forecasting revenues and earnings? Analysts are much better at doing that sort of thing than the average investor.

And besides, you only pay for these guys when you use a "full-service" broker. Those of us using discounters by-pass all of that fluff (and expense).
