I'm not sure that Micro OS needs to be embedded in the DSP. You're probably right in saying that Microsoft is too large for the task.

I had a conversation today with Wendy about this subject. I'm expecting email from her. I'll post it here when it comes in.

I was told that TI's DSP needs an OS to link it to a hand-held. Wendy wasn't able say that TI would exclude other operating systems from their designs, so she gave me a list of EDIG's competitors. The list was short. Only M Systems and Datalight made it. Both Systems use proprietary hardware, and only one supports audio.

I asked her if either company's product appeared in any manner at the SDMI conference. She said no.

I was told that EDIG currently has the only Software solution.

That was enough for me.
