Robert: Good analysis. I continue to dismiss Yahoo auctions, but I am slowly changing my tune on that -- NOT as a seller, at least not YET.

A MIRACLE happened today: eBay called me on the phone!!! I got an e-mail from a Sr Business Development Manager wanting to know if we had considered selling on eBay. Very funny. Anyway, that ended up leading to a phone call where I got a chance to discuss some issues I have. A VERY, VERY good sign. I'll keep you all posted...

I don't think auction counts make a successful auction site. I just looked up my specialty---petroleum memorabilia---and there were 205 items (mostly new) listings on Yahoo but only 14 had bids. The buyers just aren't there on Yahoo. Conversely, on eBay there are 5113 listings and I estimate that 40-50% have bids. Anyone else have a different experience?
