The 7k size can reside anywhere eDig customers desire. It is not currently on TI's dsp but could be placed there by agreement with TI, which IMO eDig should pursue with TI. As I recall it exists on ROM in our handhelds and those we'd probably currently design for others.

It would also be possible for Lucent to attach their codec to a song and allow a handheld which is programmed to recognize ePac to play that song. The next generation of handhelds will probably all permit this transparency. This may be an excellent reason why consumer electronic manufactures of substance are moving slowly.

IMO, most of eDig contract work in music handhelds will come from companies that have little or no engineering talent and skills.

There will also be other DSP manufacturers that will offer programmables. I expect Lucent and Motorola to be at least the next two with Intel a little more distant in time.
