They hear us. I'm not getting the red "!" anymore. Now it's "wating for reply" while my hourglass sits there, spilling sand all over my desktop.

Now this is rich. LOL! Glad I found at least some place
to get acknowledged for a failed web connection. Now we should suggest to the tech support head honchos, that to tell if there is something wrong they should simply monitor this thread.
It is also probably a better place for suggestions because any email to schwab will most probably just get screened by a rent-a-geek who sends you back instructions on how to press the left mouse button.

BTW I got a "10 minute wait" message for customer service available estimate. Just to call and tell them about the login breakdown. I'm
sure the software/website assistance was swamped with identical calls
such as mine, instead of a busy signal or 10 minute wait it would be sufficient for many to simply hear them say, "we know your problem exists" and for them to declare discounts on telebroker trades during such breakdowns.

Meanwhile, I've tested the Datek link and they seem to be relatively swift in connection response. Also at $10 per trade it is a more reasonable place to
1. build a portfolio from odd-lot shares
2. trade on smaller thresholds.

As for the possible superiority of the schwab research, etc. I find it too slow anyway via the internet modem. So I just follow news for a while and acquaint myself with stocks rather than fish through a number of names/symbols through stock screens. Too many bottlenecks.
