Did anyone see the lead article in the Money section of Wednesday's USA Today about quantum computing? Instead of using transistors on silicon chips to do the computing, quantum computing uses atoms. Though economically viable applications are about 30 years off, quantum computing is being done today and will be the ultimate in discontinuous innovations.

No kidding, folks. Apparently the major commercial and academic computer research labs are working on it already.
