Truth be known, when the site is up and running, and you PRELOAD the trading screen with data, Etrade is usable for trading. Not high speed scalping, but short position trades. I find the executions quite fast (a few seconds).

The problem is not the speed of the site, but the frequent outages, which can be costly.

Paul, I am moving some trading $$$ from fidelity to Datek and am interested in your use of a 'custom front end' such as Super Express or Da Slinger instead of Datek's own order entry software. Are these front ends usable with any online broker or a few or just Datek? What do they do better than the broker's own software? Do they have online websites with demos? Any downside? TIA for any light you can shed.
