rdwng, You're CD RW can obviously read and write a number of different sound files,i.e., .wav, .au, .ra. What you need to know is if your RW unit has the capacity to write to the Red Book audio standard. It's possible, that a software upgrade MIGHT solve this. The Red Book standard would allow you to burn a CD capable of being played in an audio CD player, though not all units would be compatible with the CD RW format.

OT copy AUDIO
Yes you can copy Redbook format audio CDroms. For various legal reasons I don't think Dell ships the software to do so. There are programs on the Internet. I used one called Goldwave. (With a Sony R/W from Dell on an XPST500)

(For those who wonder, I use the copies in my car where they are horribly abused by being dropped on the floor and tossed into the back seat. I keep the originals safe at home.)
