those presented directly are paid by ???, and those presented by others are paid by ??? sounds like it will turn out to be a nightmare!

No more than somebody writing a paper check when the bill shows up in the mailbox. Of xourse the direct guy may have you authorizes a direct debit via ACH.

A bank running its own BP warehouse holds all the cards, the smart ones will end up there eventually.
