and cbsmarket carries the new prez and cpq news:

Net2Phone

Net2Phone, the Internet telephony specialist and a unit of IDT (IDTC: news, msgs), named Bloomberg veteran Jonathan Fram to be its president, according to a filing.

Fram was general manager of Bloomberg's new-media unit since 1996, heading up the media firm's Internet strategy.

Fram was employed as Bloomberg's television and radio group from 1991 through 1996; he's also a former analyst at Bear Stearns and Paine Webber.

The company set a price range of $10 to $12 per share in a recent filing, which also detailed new strategic partnerships with Compaq (CPQ: news, msgs), Ziff Davis' (ZD: news, msgs) ZDNet and General Electric (GE: news, msgs) units NBC and Snap.com.

Compaq spokesman Simon Eastwick confirmed that the computer maker's PCs now sold in Japan, Canada, Asia and Latin America contain a link to Net2Phone via the "community" button on the keyboard.

Hitting the button connects viewers to a co-branded Web site, offering downloads of the Net2Phone software. Thereafter, the button pulls up Net2Phone's dial-up screen.

Shares of IDT rose 3/4 to 23 5/8 on Thursday.

vinh, there would be no controlling stake if the shares were distributed as suggested as my numbers show, since the shares would be in the hands of thousands of people. Furthermore, it is obvious that Pele's post is merely a transparent attempt to hold out the promise of NTOP shares after it has been made more than clear that IDTC shareholder will not get any.

IMO, this is about as low as one can go in deceiving people.

It seems to me that if IDTC planned to give shareholders NTOP shares as a dividend, there'd be no reason to hide that news.....

The rationale that this strategy would prevent a huge run up and subsequent sell off (both IDTC and NTOP) doens t make sense to me.
Also, how could that be done without it being specifically announced in the S1??

Seems like bullshit to me. I'm surprised to even see it mentioned here.
