I guess everyone is speechless after QLGC surprised us with an earning that is 22.4% over the street estimation.

I don't know much about fibre channel technology. I was told it is sort of a standard used for sending data between computer system and storage devices. The name may be misleading, since it may not have too much to do with optical cable. Anyway, a lot of people believe there will be a lot of room to grow for fibre channel in the next few years (with about 200% to 300% annual growth rate). However, the majority of revenue for QLGC is coming from SCSI (about 70%). As you can see, with the booming of internet the demand for all kinds of I/O products is significantly higher than a few years ago. That may be the reason why Qlgc is doing very well these days.

Fibre channel will eventually replace SCSI. While the media of choice for fibre channel is fiber optics, it will also work over copper. Thus the French spelling of fibre vs fiber.
